Hey, Hi.

Hey, Hi. è un album musicale sperimentale in cui si tenta di fare tutto con l'intelligenza artificiale, dalla musica alla voce, clonata a partire dalla voce reale. Il progetto ha una domanda precisa: fin dove si può spingere la qualità e quanto controllo si ha davvero su ogni passaggio. I testi restano originali, probabilmente di canzoni di cui esiste già una prima bozza di melodia, e verranno provati sia l'italiano sia l'inglese.

L'obiettivo finale è un test d'ascolto: verificare se chi conosce la voce, il modo di suonare e il modo di scrivere originali riesce a distinguere la differenza. Il tutto con un budget ridotto e con il minor numero possibile di servizi, per non disperdere il materiale tra una piattaforma e l'altra.

Le canzoni previste sono circa dieci e non sono ancora state scelte.

Hey, Hi. is an experimental music album in which everything is attempted with artificial intelligence, from the music to the voice, cloned from the real voice. The project has one precise question: how far can quality be pushed and how much control is there really over every step. The lyrics remain original, probably from songs for which a first draft of the melody already exists, and both Italian and English will be tried.

The end goal is a listening test: checking whether people who know the original voice, playing and writing can tell the difference. All of it on a small budget and with as few services as possible, so as not to scatter material across platforms.

About ten songs are planned and they have not been chosen yet.

Hey, Hi. è un esperimento di produzione musicale interamente assistita dall'intelligenza artificiale. Un album di circa dieci canzoni viene realizzato, a partire da testi originali, affidando all'IA la musica e la voce, clonata da una voce reale, con due domande: quale qualità si può ottenere con strumenti accessibili e con un budget ridotto, e quanto controllo si mantiene effettivamente su ogni elemento (arrangiamento, interpretazione, timbro, mix) quando il processo passa da un servizio all'altro.

Verranno provati sia l'italiano sia l'inglese. Il risultato verrà messo alla prova con un test d'ascolto: persone che conoscono la voce, il modo di suonare e il modo di scrivere originali, chiamate a distinguere i brani generati da quelli reali. Il progetto è dichiaratamente un esperimento. Il disegno del test, i criteri di misura del controllo e della qualità e diverse implicazioni (diritti, consenso, distribuzione) sono ancora da definire e vengono elencati più sotto come questioni aperte.

Hey, Hi. is an experiment in music production entirely assisted by artificial intelligence. An album of about ten songs is made, from original lyrics, by entrusting the music and the voice, cloned from a real voice, to AI, with two questions: what quality can be obtained with accessible tools and a small budget, and how much control is actually kept over every element (arrangement, performance, timbre, mix) when the process moves from one service to another.

Both Italian and English will be tried. The result will be put to the test with a listening test: people who know the original voice, playing and writing, asked to tell generated tracks from real ones. The project is openly an experiment. The design of the test, the criteria for measuring control and quality and several implications (rights, consent, distribution) are still to be defined and are listed below as open questions.
