Sweet and bitter, the strange descent,
Thou didst weep at dawn’s lament,
How long dost thou in vain lament,
I gaze at thee, in doubt, intent.
Not even I know what I feel,
Thou art yet another cloud,
I shall sleep in thy bramble’s reel,
As ever, no blackberries, no doubt.
