Walk Alone
Could this window pane speak?
‘Cause there’s a lot I must conceal:
The solemn doing of small tears
Engraving poems on my cheeks,
The prayers I’ve thrown to the winds
That never made it to your ears,
The platitudes I’m singing,
The empty road in front of me.
There was a time I would have never believed
That taking steps without you might become real
So why do I walk alone
Instead of running to survive?
Rotten to the bones
Waiting for a different life.
I guess I should have been prepared
In case the path we took was wrong,
For what it’s worth, at least I stand,
But why have I ended up alone?
Can this window pane speak?
‘Cause there’s a lot I need to hear:
The harsh remarks you spared me,
The reprimands I should still bleed,
The lessons you tried to teach,
The slaps I needed on my lips;
This awkward prayer I’m listing
Is getting lost into the breeze.
There was a time I would have never believed
That afternoons without you might become real
So why do I walk alone
Instead of running to survive?
Rotten to the bones
Waiting for a different life.
I guess I should have been prepared
In case the path we took was wrong,
For what it’s worth, at least I stand,
But why have I ended up alone?
So why do I walk alone
Instead of running to survive?
Rotten to the bones
Waiting for a different life.
I guess I should have been prepared
In case the path we took was wrong,
For what it’s worth, at least I stand,
But why have I ended up alone?
