The Demons of Ragpass
Another crimson sunset breaks its way through the foggy glass
And drinks the last sip of my hard earned scotch,
I shake it off with a scoff and curl my lips ‘round another fag
And catch the cruel clock through the smoke:
Another seasoned patron’s made his way to the crooked hands
And now it seems it’s almost half past four,
The lamps are off and I sigh as all my limbs crave another breath
And damn, I knew I would have had to come
And these ghosts now come out of the woodwork,
I dust off my knuckles and tighten my belt
And slash through the demons of my darkest nights
Although they’re all bearing my face,
I suck up the punches, laugh it off and smile
And love the pain they’re bringing
On and on and again and again
How much time have I wasted on what cannot be undone?
So I’ll tell my demons that my door’s ajar
But they’re the ones who should be scared.
Another butchered moonlight bleeds in time with my heavy steps
And sings a lullaby of forgotten scars,
I pass a gravestone and stroll towards the flickering approaching Glare of what it seems another ruined bar,
Another hazy snifter of the house’s scotch-flavored lead
Amidst the rising smell of burning tar
The lamps go off and I down what’s left inside of the glass
As I stand and mumble something like a war cry
And slash through the demons of my darkest nights
Although they’re all bearing my face,
I suck up the punches, laugh it off and smile
And love the pain they’re bringing
On and on and again and again
How much time have I wasted on what cannot be undone?
So I’ll tell my demons that my door’s ajar
But they’re the ones who should be scared.
So, slash through the demons of your darkest nights
Although they’re all bearing your face,
And suck up the punches, laugh it off and smile
And love the pain they’re bringing
On and on and again and again
How much time have ya wasted on what cannot be undone?
So, tell your demons that your door’s ajar
But they’re the ones who should be scared.
