Judgment Day
I walk through the valley with my old guitar,
The sky is turning black and all my friends are far;
I can’t explain why the days are getting longer now,
I watch the sunset burn with my head on the ground
And for the first time ever in my life
I smile at the moon, enjoy the air through my lungs
It’s a new night and a new Christmas up here
From the top of the mountain I am starting to sing,
And someone screams from the town, someone’s setting a fire
There’s music in the street, and I am feeling alive
The fireworks are shining bright in the sky;
Such a beautiful sight, such a wonderful night.
I’m gonna wait for the sunrise from the top of the hill;
Yeah, I’m shattered, cold and bruised but I won’t go to sleep
Until there’s time for another line
Until there’s time for the music to make things alright.
One day we’ll lie with a song in our head in the judgment day
Praying that someone could forgive our sins and lead us the way.
Let people sing, let children shout and run outside,
Let women dance, let old men tell their lives,
And let us fly
…And suddenly the mirror seems to smile in my face
I hear the mockingbirds’ melodies aloud in the rain;
I can’t explain why the days are getting shorter now
I watch the stars smile back with my back on the ground.
I kiss the leaves with a clumsy song,
And watch the big green trees move and singing along.
It’s a new cold breeze it’s a winter of hopes,
I just let myself collapse in every sound of this world.
And someone sings in the town, someone’s blessing the fire;
There’s bliss here in the street and kids are running around;
The candles burn from the windows, now the city’s alive,
Such a beautiful landscape, ‘nother wonderful night.
I’m gonna laugh at the clouds, lay my head in the grass,
I’m savoring the seconds and I just want this to last
Until there’s time for another breath,
I’m gonna walk and sing along until the very last breath
One day we’ll lie with a song in our head in the judgment day
Praying that someone could forgive our sins and lead us the way.
Let people sing, let children shout and run outside,
Let women dance, let old men tell their lives,
And let us fly
